Forestry
The Skagit Conservation District offers free, voluntary, and confidential help for local forest landowners who want to care for their land and keep it healthy and productive. When you work with one of our Forester, you'll create a practical, step-by-step guide that helps you reach your goals while protecting the natural resources on your property. We'll look at things like your timber stand composition, site conditions, terrain, nearby streams or wetlands, wildlife habitat, and the equipment and resources available to you. Together, we'll come up with actions that make your forest easier to manage, more resilient, and more sustainable for generations to come.
Forestry Assistance
Forestry assistance can help you with a number of concerns, including: forest management planning, forest health, climate adaptation, afforestation and reforestation, non-timber forest products, forest land and timber taxation, fish and wildlife habitat, damage assessment, and forest roads.

Financial Assistance
If you're interested in funding to help cover the cost of forestry work on your land, the first step is scheduling a site visit with us. Meeting early gives us the best chance to match you with the right program before grant cycles close, and many of these programs are competitive, so the sooner we get started the better.
Depending on your situation, we can help in a few different ways. Sometimes we work directly with you to get the work done. Other times we'll help you make sure you have everything you need to meet the requirements of a specific funder.
